Ways to Quit

Anyone can start a bad habit, it’s quitting bad habits that can be more challenging. Part of being able to quit bad habits, starts with, understanding how and why the person is addicted. Addiction comes in all forms, in no way am I condemning anyone for their addictions. I was addicted to a lot of things, but I quit and so can you.

I have put together some strategies anyone can use to help them quit, bad habits. I do believe it takes the desire to quit, but chances are, if someone is still reading this article, they are on the right track. The first strategy is, reward oneself with something positive that, they would enjoy. If that is not possible, they can find someone that will give them a high five. This small reward may just what they need, to make it through still the next day.

The next strategy is to, replace the bad habit with a good one. Warning replacing a bad habit, with another bad habit puts one at risk, for having two bad habits instead of one. When making a good habit, if one fails they still have a good habit, to feel better about which may actually make them feel, so confident, it catapults them to quit the bad habit. Good habits can be a long list of different things; meditation, excercise, music, crafts, doing anything one loves. It is important to realize that the body chases after feelings. The psychological affects from using drugs can be difficult but with these good habits I believe it will help someone quit.

Counting the cost can help someone quit, because when we realize what we have paid over time it can convince someone they have paid enough. It helps for them to get angry at themselves, for using instead of saving up for a big vacation. They should count the cost of their health and time also. Part of breaking bad habits is finding out why the habit started. A person should find out if they are using to avoid any bigger issue and if they are they may need to confront it. This is where I’d like to offer up the suggestion to get help. The reason I waited till now to list this one is because I believe help may be necessary for confrontation or just realizing someone has deeper problems. There is always hope, and together I believe we are going to break bad habits together.
